Friendship and Exact ADC Joint Meeting

Tuesday, 09 Feb 2010. It was a historic day for Friendship and Exact ADC Toastmasters Clubs, both members of Area W7.

What happened? Simply put, extreme Synergy (Word of the Day) between the two clubs because "Together Everyone Achieve More" (Meeting Theme).

Exact ADC President Yeow Yuen Kai delivering his opening address.

Our Toastmaster of the Evening, Andrew Ng gave us a motivating start by introducing us to the signature clap of Exact ADC:
*Clap* *Clap* Woosh
For Table Topics, Toastmaster Abdul Rahman introduced us to a high-powered "Convince the interviewer that you are the right person for …".

Ben offered himself as an auxiliary police officer of KLCC. Not only is he tall and handsome, he has the added advantage of Toastmasters training. Kent was convinced that he is the right person as Petronas Twin Towers' window cleaner giving him a bird's eye view of everything that happens in these offices.

Kent explaining how he can witness office drama such as files thrown across the office.

Loon offered himself as an operations theatre nurse who is happy that he is paid to be surrounded by female nurses. Chee Yoong, our RMAF fighter pilot was smiling ear-to-ear at the thought of getting a first cut of the jet engine sales. Sivadas managed to convince all of us that he's our humble tea-lady, catering to our F&B needs.

Next up, project speeches.

A Caterpillar to a Butterfly - Zaiton delivered an inspiring speech by starting with "There is a hero, if you look into your heart". This caterpillar transformed into a butterfly as she described her Toastmasters Competent Communicator journey.

Fans - It started with a song and ended with a message for everyone to follow their passion to be a fan but not to be a fanatic. In between, Chee Yoong brought numerous characters to life namely the fans of David Cook, Archuleta and Ryan Seacrest from the scene of American Idol 2008 finale. Even the British girl who wanted to marry her laptop made a brief appearance in his speech.

Dearest Daddy - It was a touching tale of Freddie and his friend Jenny. The story revolved around how she rushed to be by her ailing father's bedside, to see him for the first time in her life. It concluded with a touching sentence "I love my cheese cake, but I love my mummy more".

 "Lou Sang" during our break

After the break, Humour Master Alexandra Lau provided us with comic relief. We were laughing our guts out with the humorous poem of a love life.

Our experienced General Evaluator DTM Geoff Andrew started the evaluation by reciting:

"Flatter me and I will not believe you
Criticize me and I will never forgive you
Encourage me and I will never forget you"
With this reminder, we had constructive feedbacks from TT Evaluator KC Lim, speech evaluators Abdul Rahman, Grace Tan and Soo Loon, Grammarian Yuen Kai, Ah Counter Angeline and Timers AiShiang and Sivadas.

Geoff praised Abdul Rahman for shouldering multiple roles as SAA, Table Topics Master and Speech Evaluator. He certainly energized the whole meeting with his enthusiasm. He commended on the signature clap as well, which he said added energy to the meeting. Overall, in his opinion, this was a high quality meeting in terms of speeches, evaluations and energy.
